Trout Stocking Schedules Available at Topper’s Offices

March 2, 2018

BEDFORD – Rep. Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Franklin/Fulton) announced that copies of this year’s Pennsylvania trout stocking schedule are now available in his district offices in Bedford, Mercersburg and McConnellsburg.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) plans to stock 3.2 million adult trout, including approximately 2 million rainbow trout; 640,000 brown trout; and 500,000 brook trout, in more than 720 streams and 126 lakes.

“Though the commission stocks trout year-round, March is traditionally seen as the start of stocking season,” Topper said. “Trout stocking also signals that spring and outdoor activities, such as fishing, are just around the corner.”

The statewide opening day for trout season is Saturday, April 14, but a regional opening day in 18 southcentral and southeastern counties, including Franklin County, is Saturday, March 31. The commission will also host Mentored Youth Trout Days on Saturday, March 24, for those 18 counties and Saturday, April 7, statewide.

Topper’s Bedford office is located at 133 S. Richard St., his McConnellsburg office is located at 314 Lincoln Way East, Suite A, and the Mercersburg office, located inside borough hall, is at 113 S. Main St.

The Bedford office is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. McConnellsburg office hours are: Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the first and third Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Mercersburg office is open the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1-3 p.m.

The stocking schedule is also available online at RepTopper.com and on the PFBC’s “FishBoatPA” mobile app.
