Topper Announces Grants for Fire, EMS in Bedford, Fulton Counties

BEDFORD – More than $325,000 in grant funding is coming to fire and emergency medical service departments in Bedford and Fulton counties, Rep. Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Fulton) announced. The grants are through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner’s Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program.
“This funding goes a long way in assisting those who help us in our times of need and ensures they have the training and equipment they need,” Topper said. “We can never thank first responders enough for all they do to assist our families and neighbors and protect property.”
Grants for Bedford County:
• Alum Bank Community Volunteer Fire Co.: $14,281.
• Bedford Volunteer Fire Department: $16,136.
• Chestnut Ridge Ambulance Association: $15,000.
• Cumberland Valley Township Volunteer Fire Department (EMS): $15,000.
• Cumberland Valley Township Volunteer Fire Department (Fire): $12,426.
• Everett Volunteer Fire Company: $14,075.
• Hyndman Area Rescue Squad: $15,000.
• Hyndman Volunteer Fire Department: $12,426.
• Imler Area Volunteer Fire Co.: $12,632.
• Raystown Ambulance Service: $15,000.
• Saxton Volunteer Fire Company (EMS): $15,000.
• Saxton Volunteer Fire Company (Fire): $15,930.
• Shawnee Valley Volunteer Fire Co.: $13,250.
• Six Mile Run Area Volunteer Fire Co. (EMS): $15,000.
• Six Mile Run Area Volunteer Fire Co. (Fire): $16,136.
• Southern Cove EMS: $15,000.
• Southern Cove Volunteer Fire Co.: $13,869.
Grants for Fulton County:
• Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. (EMS): $14,318.
• Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Co. (Fire): $12,838.
• McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co. (EMS): $15,000.
• McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Co. (Fire): $13,457.
• Needmore Volunteer Fire Co. (EMS): $15,000.
• Needmore Volunteer Fire Co. (Fire): $12,426.
All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, not General Fund tax revenue. Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, recruitment and retention, public education about fire prevention, and reduction of existing debt.
